You Are Enough

Strength doesn’t always come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t (Rikki Rogers). We don’t discover that we are enough until our “Enough” is tested. I didn’t know that I possessed the ability of an Olympic swimmer until certain circumstances forced me to swim. I didn’t realize I had the strength of a bodybuilder until God gave me a heavy amount of weight to carry. We have to realize that God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers! Ultimately our greatest conflict will lead to our greatest blessings! The Good News Bible Translation of James 1:3 states the following, “for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure.” As the scripture tells us, we will SUCCEED in conquering every trial as long as our faith is present. Along with being successful on the battlefield, our battles will produce patience and the ability to persevere! The word perseverance can be defined as the steadfastness in doing something despite a delay or difficulty in achieving success. Every circumstance that tried to drown me taught me how to swim. As James 1:2 (Good News Translation) states, “My brothers and sisters, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your way,” Instead of shying away from the figurative sharks in the water or the depth of the ocean, I embraced it! I realized that I would reach my destination as long as I kept swimming! When God demonstrates that you are enough, believe him. God will never place us in a battle that we can’t win. Not only does he equip us with everything to succeed, he ensures that victory is on the other side of every battle! Instead of saying that you are not enough when faced with difficulty, declare that you are enough and that you have everything you need to conquer it!

God’s Gifts

The Good News Bible Translation of Ephesians 1:3 mentions the following, “Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! For in our union with Christ he has blessed us by giving us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world.” As this scripture tells us, we are gifted with EVERY spiritual blessing! We have to ultimately learn that we are placed in different circumstances to prove this. Sometimes God will place a “Goliath” in our life to demonstrate that we have a “David” inside of us. The pressures of life ultimately expose and reveal the God within us. The spiritual gift of patience is only required in a season or situation that involves postponement. The word patience can be defined as the ability to tolerate delay. How can we demonstrate this if God delivered blessings and breakthrough on our timing instead of his? Would it make sense to use the GPS in my car if I knew exactly where I was going and the best route to get there? My navigation system is the most efficient and effective when I’m traveling to an unfamiliar destination. God has equipped us with every spiritual gift needed to complete what he has called us to do!

Sometimes a moment of self-reflection is necessary to realize this. We have to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, “What do I need to do to become the person that God wants me to be?” This is about discovering another level of potential, one that we haven’t reached yet. Being placed in a certain situation or an uncomfortable environment often make us ask “Why me?” or “What is God is looking to accomplish?” God wants to expose you to the next level, and the potential within you that hasn’t been accessed yet! When we are faced with difficult circumstances, we tend to focus on what we feel we are lacking. With the greatest God within us, we will never lack anything. You have the most powerful God in your DNA! Deoxy - ribo - nucleic Acid (or DNA) can be described as the unique qualities or characteristics of someone or something. To paraphrase James 1:2, consider yourself fortunate when you encounter different trials. Each test will allow you to demonstrate the abilities that God has uniquely placed within you along with the opportunity to enhance them!

God’s Choice

The Good News Bible Translation of Ephesians 1:11 states the following, “All things are done according to God's plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning.” This scripture reminds us that EVERYTHING is done according to God and his plan for our lives. This includes the highs and lows that we encounter along with the gifts that he uniquely placed within us. This scripture also tells us that we were chosen by God because of his purpose, and that this decision was a predetermined one. God knew exactly what we were capable of before entering the world. We serve a God that does everything strategically, and he didn’t choose you by mistake. He chose you on purpose with the perfect purpose in mind!

God’s Power

The Easy To Read Version Translation of Luke 12:48 states the following “...Whoever has been given much will be responsible for much. Much more will be expected from the one who has been given more.” Your assignment may be accompanied by a lot of tasks, but you are capable of completing every one of them! If you lacked the ability to do so, God wouldn’t have assigned it to you. Your purpose was uniquely designed for YOU to complete! As the Good News Translation of Ephesians 1:19-20 states, “and how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world.” Instead of looking at the size of the task, think about the sovereign God who chose you to complete it! Not only did God choose you, he equipped you with the same strength he used to raise resurrect Christ! This is exactly why YOU ARE ENOUGH! It’s important to acknowledge that this power is only at work in those who believe. So this power only becomes active when we have faith in ourselves and the one who gifted us with omnipotence. The word omnipotent can be defined as having unlimited power or the ability to do anything.

As you pursue the next task or phase in your season, embrace every part of it! Having the power of the Greatest God within you makes any and everything possible!
