God Is Enough

This blog was inspired by a recent conversation. During this discussion, it was mentioned that God alone wasn't enough for a specific situation. Being cognizant and sensitive to the topic being discussed, I did encourage and recommend other forms of intervention. I also expressed that God is more than enough to overcome any situation. As Philippians 4:11-13 states: “Not that I speak from [any personal] need, for I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances. I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need. I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose--I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]” You can do ALL things through the one who strengthens you, not all things except for overcoming extreme adversity. God wouldn't give you a challenge that couldn't be conquered with his presence alone or the referenced verses would be immediately become questioned. I'm not proposing that you deny or avoid help from others, but if God is all you have, you have more than enough!

God Is My Strength

One of my favorite songs, "You're Bigger" by Jekalyn Carr talks about the size of our God. She sings the following lyrics during this song:

"You're bigger than the problems I've faced,

You're bigger than the disaster that I've seen,

You're bigger, you're so much bigger Jesus

Than what this life may bring"

We have to adopt this mindset! Facing adversity in life is inevitable, but we serve a God that's bigger than all of it. Sometimes God will give us heavy weight to carry to show us the amount of strength we have through him. We'll never know how strong we are until our strength is fully tested. I never knew my 185 pound frame was capable of bench pressing 270 pounds until I was placed in a position to do it. This is why we need to embrace the pressure and adversity that God allows us to face. It demonstrates our strength in him along with giving us the strength we need for our next season. I completely understand the fatigue and frustration that life brings, because I've been there before. I've dealt with financial problems, death, unemployment, went through and rehabilitated from a knee surgery, but not only was God by my side through it all, he provided me the strength to endure everything that I faced. If God did it for me, he's more than capable of doing the same for you! To the person going through a difficult season, your testimony is that you're still standing! Despite feeling weak, broken, or scarred, YOU ARE STILL HERE! Even if you feel it's not by much, you are still here. If you're breathing, you're blessed! The Message translation of 1 John 4:4 states the following: "My dear children, you come from God and belong to God. You have already won a big victory over those false teachers, for the Spirit in you is far stronger than anything in the world." The reason you are still standing is because of the God within you. Even at your lowest point, you still have the highest God in your corner. You are stronger than any trial or tribulation you're facing, and it's time for you to realize it!

God is My Supplier

The Amplified version of Philippians 4:19 tells us the following: "And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Liberally can be defined as a large and generous amount. This means that our God is capable of supplying us everything we need in a large and generous manner. Whatever we lack, God can provide it! God has came through and delivered too many times for me to ever doubt what he's capable of. God has done enough for me to know that he's enough for me, and this is why I live my life without fear. My confidence comes from his capability. We have to embrace this exact mindset, and realize that God is more than enough!
